I am a mathematician working in low-dimensional topology and an assistant professor at Creighton University. I received a Ph.D from Princeton University in 2010 and was a Zorn Postdoctoral Fellow at Indiana University, Bloomington, from 2010-2013 and a Philip T. Church Postdoctoral Fellow at Syracuse University from 2013-2016.My research interests include studying the typical behavior of knots; understanding and implementing calculations of invariants like knot genus; and understanding the Heegaard Floer invariants of knot surgeries, especially L-space surgeries.

I live in Omaha, NE, with my husband Stephen Maderak and our three children. In my free time, I volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol in flight operations. I am also a flight instructor, and my husband and I own a Beechcraft Bonanza.
